The 'Squelettes' serie is about my fascination with the human body: its vulnerabilities and its strength. The skeleton, for me, is not a symbol of death but of life: it is our movement, our vehicle.

Between 1979 and 1984, Cathy Josefowitz studied anatomy and dance at Dartington College of Arts with Steve Paxton (dancer, choreographer and founder of Contact Improvisation) and Mary Fulkerson (dancer, choreographer and founder of Release Work - dance technique based on knowledge of the skeleton).

During this time Cathy lost her grandmother, Hilda Kagan, with whom she was very close and she also began a long relationship with painter Colin Paul Mey.
