Between 2001 and 2003, Cathy filled workbooks with collages, paintings and drawings. She worked in a state of tension and feverishness.
The workbooks have an intimate and spontaneous side to them that I don't find with other supports. Their form, their size, their structure and how they can be filled and folded are unique. Each one of them is a book, a safe, a treasure, a document, a poem, a secret, a dream... I can take them with me on the plane, to the restaurant, to bed. The moment I open it, the world opens and I can begin to work. Ever since my childhood, books like these have affected me. |
